“Today all the village is here to receive medical assistance “
Salah Haj Yahia, Director of the mobile clinic

More than 300 persons, among whom women and children, received specialistic medical care during one-day activities of the mobile clinic in the village of Iraq Burin in the West Bank.

During the month of December, outbursts of clashes occurred in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, following the declaration of the President of United States on the recognition of Jerusalem as Capital of the State of Israel. Despite the increasing of tensions, the mobile specialistic  clinic, promoted by Physicians for Human Rights Israel and Palestinian Medical Relief Society and supported by  Medici per i diritti umani, has continued to provide medical care services, reaching the village of Iraq Burin in the district of Nablus. The village has a population of 1200 inhabitans and lacks of primary and specialistic health care services, which are very expensive. About 300 persons, among whom women and children, were assisted by Israeli and Palestinian doctors who are volunteering in the mobile clinic.

Iraq Burin is the scene of regular clashes with the settlers of the near settlement of Bracha in the outskirts of Nablus, in Area A (under Palestinian jurisdiction). The settlers usually intervene in  Area C (under Israeli jurisdiction) so that the violent attacks remain unpunished. From the testimonies collected, the families of the village experience periodic incursions perpetrated by the Israeli army during the night.

Medu has been supporting the project of the mobile clinics for eight years in the Occupied Palestinian territories where Israeli and Palestinian doctors “open a breach in the wall”  working side by side.
